Introduction
Commtech Asia was engaged to provide full commissioning management services for Hong Kong International School’s redevelopment of its upper primary facility, situated in Repulse Bay. The time-critical project saw the live upgrade of its existing campus, along with a 40,000 sq ft expansion to accommodate new learning environments, aimed to provide improved educational experience for its students. Today, the newly refurbished facility offers comfortable multi-storey classrooms, dynamic activity areas and recreational and sports facilities, spanning a total gross floor area of 165,000 sq ft.
The project
As the independent commissioning manager for the redevelopment project, Commtech Asia was tasked to provide end-to-end testing and commissioning services for the installation of all related mechanical, electrical and plumbing building services.
The key challenge was to deliver a time-critical programme to the best-quality outcomes and ensure that the facility reopens as per targeted dates. Owing to this, the team was involved right at the beginning of the project to conduct design reviews and ensure compliance to owner's requirements. The team looked to rectify any design-related issues at this stage to prevent any potential delays.
Commtech Asia worked to provide essential support to the customer, and collaborated with all project stakeholders to ensure minimal impact to the school’s operations during the construction of the project. The project was successfully delivered on time and on budget, and the school reopened its newly refurbished facilities in time to resume a new term, with an improved educational facility for students to enjoy.
