Introduction

Hong Kong International School is an international private school with two campuses located in Tai Tam and Repulse Bay, Hong Kong, accommodating over 2,600 students from lower primary school to high school. Following the school’s extensive redevelopment plan, Commtech Asia was appointed to provide full commissioning management for the redevelopment of its campus for lower primary school located in Repulse Bay.

Spanning a total gross floor area of 337,000 sq ft, the 15-storey school comprises classrooms, indoor and outdoor learning spaces, a community block housing an auditorium, gymnasium, car park and indoor swimming pool as well as staff residences above a roof podium playground offering 56 units.

The project

Commtech Asia delivered full commissioning management services for the project including all mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) components, and independent commissioning authority (iCxA) services of the MEP design for commissionability in compliance with BEAM Plus green building requirements.

Commtech Asia was also responsible for the collation of the testing and commissioning specification, implementation plan and commissioning programme, MEP installation reviews, and contractor coordination to review the power, cooling and integrated building management systems (iBMS).

Designed with environmental-sustainability in mind, the school was awarded BEAM Plus green building certification.
